The City of Regina is pleased to provide an update to the Early Adopter Incentive Program (EAIP)

   

The City of Regina is pleased to provide an update to the Early Adopter Incentive Program (EAIP), which provides financial support for the early implementation of food and yard waste  services. City Council recently approved enhancements to the EAIP that provides more options for financial support for early adoption of food and yard waste programs in advance of regulatory requirements becoming mandatory. As a reminder, starting July 1, 2027, multi-family properties, will be required to implement a food and yard waste program. To support this transition, the EAIP now offers the following funding opportunities for multi-family properties, including both condominium and apartment buildings: 

 

1. Operational Support and Capital Package 

  • Monthly rebate: Up to $55 per month to offset operational costs such as tipping and hauling fees (food and yard waste collection) 
  • One-time payment: $25 per unit as a capital offset  

Note: Hauling invoices for food and yard waste collection must be submitted monthly to receive the rebate  

 

2. Capital-Only Incentive Package 

  • Reimbursement:  
  • 100 per cent of eligible capital costs up to $10,000  
  • 50 per cent reimbursement of eligible costs above $10,000 up to a maximum of $20,000  

Note: Quotes and invoices must be submitted for City approval prior to reimbursement  

 

Eligible Capital Expenses Include: 

  • Food and yard waste processing equipment or technologies (e.g. countertop composters) 
  • Kitchen catchers  
  • External locking technology for securing waste containers  
  • Permanent external garbage, recycling and food and yard waste containers (e.g., in-ground containers)  
  • Construction or upgrades to waste enclosures to accommodate food and yard waste containers  
  • Waste bin signage and decals
