Multi-Family Food & Yard Regulation New Recommendation

EX25-24 Multi-Family Food & Yard Regulation Updates

Recommendation

The Executive Committee recommends that City Council:

1. Defer the following implementation dates by 18 months respectively:

a) Defer the implementation date for non-designated residential properties (multi-family sector) to add a food and yard waste service from July 1, 2025 to January 1, 2027;

b) Defer the implementation date for non-designated non-residential properties (Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (ICI) sector) from January 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027;

c) Defer the Early Adopter Incentive Program (EAIP) deadline for the ICI sector from January 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026;

 

2. Instruct the City Solicitor to prepare an amendment to The Waste Management Bylaw, 2012 Bylaw No. 2012-63 (Bylaw) to make the necessary date changes, including required housekeeping changes, all as detailed in Appendix A, to be brought forward to the meeting of City Council following approval of these recommendations, by City Council; and

 

3. Approve these recommendations at its March 26, 2025, meeting.

These items will be brought forth as a motion for a vote to the City Council Meeting March 26,2025 at 1PM.
