These are the points we selected to emphasize about the Budget:

1.    A 15.60 rate increase will be difficult for many homeowners and have devastating effects on condominium owners.
2.    The Reserve fund needs to be brought back up to acceptable levels in a reasonable manner.

However, doing this in five years is not responsible for rate payers. We all would like many new facilities and services, but the city of Regina can’t even cover essential services.

It’s always a difficult task doing budgets as we try to balance the want to have versus the need to have.  It’s very important to distinguish between the two The needs should have priority, but the wants keep people happy.

For condominiums:

If we can’t afford everything, we don’t have it done right away, the city of Regina needs to do the same.

We set up a capital saving plan using our reserves and other financing until we can pay for the project.

Essential services and the infrastructure should be the Main focus.

3. We all expect and are accepting of paying our fair share but Not at the expense of having to give up our homes.

For too long condominiums have paid for changes that are your responsibility and need to be held accountable for. We had a huge increase last year and another, even higher is unacceptable.

Your spending is not unlimited as it is your taxpayers who pay, just like in a condo where the condo owners are the only source of funds.
